Creating a Default email (Catchall) Account

CPanel Tutorials

  • Keep that in mind you already have a default mail account set up-it's youraccountname@yoursite.com where youraccountname is the account name provided to you in your welcome e-mail.Use this tutorial only if you want to change the default to another address.
  • Log in to your control panel.
  • Click on the link "Mail" under the mail icon.
  • You will be taken to "Mail Manager Main Menu" where you will find all the controls over you mail accounts and user preferences.
  • To change the default mail account click on "Default address"link.
  • You will be taken to "Default adress maintanance"page where you will find your user name yourusername is used by default mail account of your domain.
  • To change this default address click on "Set default address" link.
  • Enter the new default address in the entry box provided.You will see the corresponding domain name on the left side dropdown menu. If you don't want any Catchall account then enter :blackhole: to discard mails or :fail:no such address to bounce unrouted mails in the entry box.
  • After entering the new default address myname@yourdomain.com or the scripts mentioned above in blue
  • Click on "Change" button.
  • You will get a confirmation dialogue stating "All unrouted e mail for yourdomain.com is now going to myname@yourdomain.com. Now whenever someone sends an e mail to your site that is not directed to a specific POP address , your catchall account will receive the mail.
  • Click on "Go Back" to go to "Default adress maintanance" page where you will find your new default email accoount be beside your domain name.
