Managing a MySql database using PHPMyadmin


CPanel Tutorials

  • Log in to your domain contol panel or cPanel.
  • Click on 'MySQL Databases' link under the icon 'MySQL'.
  • You will be taken to 'MySQL Account Maintanance' page,Scroll down.Below you will find a link 'phpMyAdmin'.Click it.You will be taken to 'phpMyAdmin'page.
  • Locate the database you wish to manage.You will find your database(s) in left hand side coloumn.Click on the right one e.g. yourdomain_contact.
  • You will get a page under the header'Database yourdomain_contact running on local host'.As you can see there is no tables in the database.Now it's time to add some.
  • Click in the SQL tab located at the upper side under the header.Copy and paste the content of your SQL file in the text box to create your table.
  • Alternatively you can simply browse your local hard drive for your SQL file and load it automatically through the upload process by clicking 'Go' button.You will get a confirmation message..
  • Now you will see the tables has been created successfully which you will fing in left hand side pane.
  • To save the data periodically in your databse go to 'Export' tab .
  • Highlight the tables you wish to Save(Dump) in your hard drive .If you like you can highlight all the tables at a time by clicking'Select all'.
  • Now select whether you wish to save table stucture and/or data by checking respective check box.
  • Check the box beside 'Save as file'
  • For convenience you can "memorize"the format of the dump for future use by checking 'Remember template' box.
  • Cllick 'Go'
  • In the file download window click 'Save' button.Specify the location in your hard drive where the files will be dumped,Check the box in File download window to close the window when download completes or you can close it manually after completion of download.
  • It is recomended that you make a schedule and back up your batabases on a regular basis.
