Backing Up your site

- Log in to your domain contol panel or cPanel.
- Click "Backup" icon.
- You can back up your entire site (not any MySql databases).
- Click "Generate/Download a full backup" under the header Full Backup.
- In this example,we will generate a back up on a remote FTP server.
- Select the "Backup Destination" as "Remote FTP Server" from dropdown menu.
- Enter an e mail address where you will receive a complete back up log and confirmation once it is completed.
- Now enter the host address of the remote FTP server.
- And finally enter the username and password of the remote ftp server.
- Click "Generate Backup" button.
- The back up process has been initiated now and once it is over you will receive a confirmation by mail.
- You can also generate back up in the Home Directory of your server.
- Then select "Backup Destination" as "Home Directory" in drop down menu.
- If you wish you can download just Home directory in your local system.
- To do that ,click "Download a Home Directory Backup".
- In file download window,click "Save".Select the folder in which you want to keep the backup and click "Save".
- You will see the back up process has been initiated now.Check the box to close the window automayically when download completes.
- You can also make back up of our Sql database in your local hard drive. (You can also do this from phpmyadmin).
- Click on the name of the database you wish to download under the header "Download A Sql Database Backup".
- As the Home directory,click "Save" and specify where to save your databse.
- Now let us see how to restore files from a backup.
- Click on "Browse" under the header "Restore A Home Backup".Browse for the file,locate and select it,and click "Upload" button.
- As you can see,Back up was successful.Keep that in mind that any changes to the files in the server since your last backup will be lost.So it's recomended that you back up your files on a regular basis.
